From Sale to “See Ya” In Ten Seconds or Less! Small Business Marketing In A World of Distractions

No matter what service you offer, or what product you sell, every single one of you is a marketer!

At one time, marketing just meant buying ad space, or working with the company advertiser to create a new campaign image, but it has morphed into arguably the most crucial facet of doing business in today’s economy.

Shoestring budgets have caused entrepreneurs to start thinking outside the box. It has been reported that in today’s busy; tech driven world, ten seconds is all we have to grab an individual’s attention. If we fail to stand out from the crowd, and effectively sell or promote our business, we will instantly vanish into a distant memory. Smart phones, tablets, iPods, whatever the device, they are all fighting for our focus.

With so many distractions, the goal of a marketer has shifted from getting the best deal on ad space, to innovating and imagining new ways to compete with technology. Marketing is no longer just the office down the hall. In order to be successful, you need to enlist the innovative imaginations of everyone involved. From the CEO to the guy that takes the trash out, never underestimate the power of a unique idea.

A single voice is seldom heard, but have it backed by a crowd and the decibels start to go up.  That’s why I love social media! One person can form a single opinion, and quickly build awareness with just a few well authored posts, or shared images.

Just imagine if Mahatma Gandhi had a Facebook page!

Every decision you make as a business owner, has to be viewed through the eyes of the consumer. One mistake can lead to massive fallout!

Market yourself as the face of your business, market the product you sell, market the quality, and market the passion.

But above all else…market your vision for the future.

As consumers, we don’t have time to sit back and wait, tell us what you want us to do, and tell us fast.

Our attention is drifting!
